I teach gentle Hatha Yoga classes that are strongly focused on listening to the body while breathing deeply in Yoga Asanas (poses), at a level that is comfortable for you and your body. The use of props is encouraged to assist in allowing the body to feel more supported and comfortable during the practice.

My “old school” approach includes Hatha Yoga, as well as Pranayama (breathing techniques), meditation, and a therapeutic approach to the mind and body.  Special attention is given to Savasana (corpse pose) – done at the end of every class – allowing everyone the opportunity to experience a deep sense of relaxation and peace.

Studies have shown that the practice of yoga – including breath work, poses and meditation – offers numerous physiological and psychological health benefits for all age groups.  The benefits can be particularly helpful in relieving the symptoms of arthritis, hypertension and osteoporosis. It also:

  • Reduces aches and pains

  • Improves posture, balance, and stability

  • Loosens stiff muscles and joints while increasing flexibility
